Veggie Veggie Veggie
I decided that I shall write this blog as a discussion (basically with myself) on my veggie beliefs... ...note that veggie beliefs would be referring to vegetarian beliefs...
Almost everybody reading this knows that currently I dislike eating meat products, so that premise will be where this blog will stem from.
To start, why do I dislike eating meat? First, I don't like the idea of eating a dead animal. No, that does not mean I like eating alive animals. Second, I don't like the idea of people killing animals for food. Third, I don't like the idea of animals suffering in their process of dying. Finally (for now), I find it unappealing to bite into a piece of meat. Since grade 5, I picture the animal whenever somebody mentions its name. Its not appealing at all.
I will now analyze these reasons.
I don't like the idea of eating a dead animal. Why not? Well, time for some logic. Some animals eat dead animals. All humans are animals. Therefore, some humans eat dead animals. I repeat, only some humans eat dead animals. Thus, this reasoning holds.
I don't like the idea of people killing animals for food. Waiting for animals to die naturally isn't exactly practical. Also, in nature, animals kill animals for food. Thus, this reasoning does not hold.
I don't like the idea of animals suffering in their process of dying. No, we do not live in a world where animals die instantly. Thus, they suffer prior to death. Additionally, some animals are actually put through long periods of suffering prior to death. Plus, we don't know for how long they can feel pain after we think they're dead. Thus, this reasoning does hold.
I find it unappealing to bite into a piece of meat. I don't really think I need to explain this. Its pretty much self-explanatory. Thus, this reasoning does hold.
Therefore, as of now, I am three steps towards and one step away from vegetarianism.
I think I was going to type a bit more, but my thoughts got lost sometime during the day. So that's all for now.

I’m confused. What was the point of this besides saying you don’t like meat.
Some animals are carnivores and some aren’t. Humans are omnivores or whatever so we have a choice and we have parts of our body that can digest both. However we are more similar to herbavoires. We don’t have sharp teeth or claws to kill our prey and our intenstinal track is long like a herbivores.
Also, carnivores hunt their food and eat it raw. Humans cannot eat meat raw least we get food poisoning.
Some of the animals basically get tortured while still alive because they missed the blade that was supposed to end their lives and even before that, a lot are beaten which is just not cool. Many too are forced to grow so fast that they can no longer support their own weight and die before reaching the slaughter house.
Meat is gross. I’ve never been a big meat eater even before going vegetarian. It was kind of just filler and there. I actually prefered the sauces put on meat to the meat itself and with faux products, that can be achieved as well.
And I don’t know if you care at all but since giving up meat, at least for me, I’ve felt all around better and I’ve also had less migranes. Is this because of it? I dunno but I do know that meat that we eat is stuffed full of things that aren’t good for us.
This quote pretty much sums up how I feel (it was plastered everywhere at the Thursday show)
“How weird is it that we call certain animals pets and treat them like members of the family, and yet other animals we label food and suck the meat off their bones… we have so many food choices and options – so why make an animal suffer, and why take the life of another living thing, if I don’t really need it in order to survive.”-Gabe Saporta

I was just writing down what I thought to work something out.
We have some teeth, and we have a long intestine like omnivores do.
Humans can eat some meat raw. Just like some animals can only eat some animals.
Vegetables and fruits are packed full of things not good for us too. That part we can’t really avoid.

Everything is packed full of stuff not good for us…..
No avoiding that unless you want to starve to death.

Well that point is completely void then (because it works against both sides).

Yay veggie!
I’ve been vegetarian my entire life and pretty much vegan the past 6 or so years, by choice, and my reasons span from health to ethics and the environment.
But I’m wondering what sort of “not good for us” things you were meaning that fruits and vegetables are “packed full of?” Besides common allergens and produce that’s grown with heavy doses of chemicals (which is becoming much easier to avoid these days), I can’t think of what you mean.
In any case, kudos for your decision!

Pesticides for one. Plus a huge portion of North American foods are genetically modified.
Note that there are no actual stone “guidelines” for something to be labeled as “organic”. Plus it takes many many years for pesticides to completely leave a region of soil, yet many plants that grow in that soil are labeled as “organic” nonetheless.
