Nobody’s home, so nobody minds

(Arcade Fire – Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out))
I’ve written two blog posts in the past month, saved the drafts, then never finished them. I guess I should actually submit a post..
I went to the beach last night with a bunch of Tsawwassen people. I only knew about four of them, then the rest just by name. It was interesting. I spent a good half hour just wandering around for firewood/standing and looking at stuff. There’s not much to look at there. Ferries, stars, floating lo..OH LOOK HERE COMES THE FOG, BITCH. Yeah, it got really foggy around 1:30, in about 10mins we went from good visibility to not seeing Deltaport and barely the ferry causeway.
I’ve been really socially awkward lately. Especially talking to people. I’ve made mistakes, maybe I should just stop being paranoid and move on.
I might be withdrawing from my program at school. I really don’t want to, and I probably won’t, but at least three other people are seriously considering it. To put it lightly, we were not impressed with the result of our practicum. We’re educated (with the exception of three people, myself included) adults that are capable of doing more than telling people where the washrooms are. Please reflect that the next time you accept student employees. I really hope it was just the Olympics fucking everything up rather than that being the way we would normally be handled.
I’ve lost 4.5kg in the last month-and-a-half ish or so.. whenever I last measured. Maybe it was cos I’ve been eating less, or because I was walking for eight hours a day at work. I’ve also started eating breakfast, which is really hard for me. I’m not hungry in the morning, and I practically have to shove cereal down my throat. I’m less hungry later on in the day though, which is nice. I’ve started buying soy milk “beverage” so that I can actually have proper cereal instead of just eating it dry.
Apparently Facebook’s idea of “94 other friends” using FB mobile is eight people. Good math skills.
I was eating a salad the other day with a shitload of croƻtons in it and bit the end of my tongue. It started bleeding in two spots and it still hurts
How much do people know about me? How much do I want them to know about me? I’m going to enjoy being vague because I’m paranoid like that.
Bad idea
by Scott on Feb.16, 2010, under Uncategorized
Sometimes, there’s a voice in the back of your head saying that something isn’t a good idea. Mine doesn’t speak up enough. I wished it had. That was a really, REALLY bad idea.
I’m glad my friends are awesome, because things could have gone a lot worse. My parents also need to stop worrying about me. So what I was out until 3AM. Get over it.
I think I might have a place to move into next February now after I graduate. That’s nice, but a place now might be even nicer.
This is a really depressing blog post, huh? Last night was fun. We wandered around Vancouver for a while, took the Olympic Line streetcar (dear Translink: buy some). I took some awesome pictures. I love my camera. My case is nice too, it started pouring and this little cover thing pulls out from the bottom so it stays dry. Awesome.
Metrics
by Scott on Jan.28, 2010, under Uncategorized
Metrics. I’m glad that I’m not doing metrics. Hello, how was your flight? Hello, how was your experience here?
Also, I found a new album that I like. Not love, but I listened to the entire thing and didn’t skip any songs. I’ve had it on repeat for about two days now since I downloaded it. Listen. I don’t know if any of you would like it. It’s kindof borderline emo/rock/whatever. Heavy-ish?
I’ve run out of stuff to talk about

Yeah. Good luck selling me ED pills if I can’t even understand what you’re saying.
I guess we’re not friends anymore. I always figured that considering that most of the time we were around each other you’d just ignore me. Meh. I have no problem with it. You’ve got your alcohol, that should suffice.
I just realized the other day that Life in Technicolor was released in a normal version without the deep treble/faded-out sound of the original. Do like.
I also went to the airport on Friday to apply for my restricted area ID card (RAIC). I look stoned in the photo. Seriously, Transport Canada better hurry up and pass my security clearance so I can have another pass issued with a not-stoned face. But the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim. The application says it can take up to 6 months, and friends have had various experiences between two weeks and 18 months XD
We still don’t know what we’re doing at YVR. Two people do, they’ve worked at the airport and already have clearance so were given jobs on the last few days escorting athlete buses from the terminal to their planes. That still leaves about two weeks of nothing to do though.
YVR in general is starting to annoy me. I don’t know how forgiving to be though considering that February is going to be a total shitstorm there.
I don’t like group projects at school. Especially when one person is quite different from the others in work tactics. Let’s get it done now? No thanks, this is due at the end of next week and I have a different project due in two days. So do you. Oh, you’re done? That’s nice. I’m not.
I did get 40/40 on the above project though, which is all good. It also meant I got to go home early on Friday because I didn’t have to stay to correct my missing parts. Friday was an awesome day. I woke up around 8:00ish, bussed to bridgeport then took the train to the airport. I got there about 50 minutes early, so I sat below the observation area in the domestic food court doing a homework assignment that was due that morning. Woot. I don’t like environmental management systems. It’s dragging on a long time, and like SMS, doesn’t really explain concepts very well. A, B, C, and D are involved in an EMS. Now make me a study. Here’s a table too. Do we use the table in it? Oh, you don’t have to, but you can. Tables are better than words. Do we have to use this table? Oh, you can use a table. THANKS A LOT.
I stayed at the airport an extra hour or so just for the heck of it. It was relaxing. I watched an airplane leave. I’ve also learned to tell the difference between a Boeing and an Airbus. Also the difference between a B737 and a B738. The 700 only has one emergency exit. Yeah, now try seeing it from ~1000ft away straight down.
I’ve begun looking for a job too. I might be able to get one doing baggage services at the airport (wrapping bags.. putting into the system for people who arrive rediculously early, priority checkin, etc.) or cleaning private planes at the south terminal.
I need to finish cleaning my room today. I cleaned it over Christmas break, but there’s still a big pile of stuff to keep that never got put away in its various places. Plus, my clothes are still all on the couch downstairs and my mom is getting annoyed.
The Environment is your friend

Today began at 6:35 with my alarm clock going off. I have a bad habit of setting it too early because then I want to sleep in and sleep in too late. I try to set it later so that it’s closer when I’m actually going to LEAVE for school, but no. Doesn’t happen.
I ended up deciding on catching the 7:15 bus, which also didn’t happen. I decided to take lunch today which meant putting it from the big container (too much to eat) into a small container. Goodbye 7:15 bus.
I ended up taking whichever bus came after the 7:15 bus. Every morning I have this big argument with myself if I want to drive to school or not. Today it was as follows:
I have a car.
I also have a bus pass.
Car means I can sleep in.
Car means you have to drive in Richmond traffic on the way home.
Bus means someone else does the driving for you.
If I leave early enough in the car I miss traffic.
Bus means I have to stand on the LG/LB-fest bus at 3:25.
Bus means I have to wait for the C92.
It’s raining.
Car means I have to put up with stupid drivers in the rain.
What if tunnel traffic is bad?
Car just got fixed the other day, maybe I shouldn’t drive it too far.
Car means walking from Burkeville in rain and mud.
Car could also mean paying $5.50 for parking, even more than a bus transfer.
I still have a bus transfer though.
Get out of bed.
What time is it? Oh I still have time.
No, get out of bed.
But we don’t start til 8:30. I usually get there around 7:30.
OK, get out of bed in five minutes.
Is traffic bad?
I don’t know
So originally there was another ~300 words on this post, but the blog was stupid and 404d when I tried to post it and gave errors when I tried to save the draft. I don’t feel like continuing my rant about 2.5hr voids of useless space at school so enjoy

You wanna see what’s in my head?
Check it out, because
I got pictures of what’s in my head
They took them in Tokyo
And I brought them back with me to the USA
(Ben Folds – Hiroshima (B B B Benny Hit His Head))
I really need to check my blog more often. I haven’t posted in over a month. Case and point, this comment:
Hi scott
Are you the cute cashier at tsawwassen safeway??
That made me lol.. And in case you still read here, no, different Scott. I work(ed) across the street at thrifty’s
I know who you’re talking about though.
The next year of my life (aka. end of my life) starts tomorrow. We get our final projects assigned for school. We’ve been there.. four months? Yeah. We get a year, give or take a week or two depending on our presentation date, to work on them. Last year’s class starts presenting on Monday. We also got our schedules yesterday.. We’ll be at YVR from Feb 10th-March 2nd. We might be going to Kamloops again during that week, which is going to be blah depending on how we get scheduled. I hope it’s not too late to request time off.
As usual I got distracted while typing and now it’s late and I have to sleep.. even though we only have class from 10-12 tomorrow (woot short days)
Craigslist personals are awesome
by Scott on Nov.27, 2009, under Uncategorized
I went to TRU last weekend with Nick, Katie, and Mike to visit Jess. Was fun. Also too short. Also, five people in a dorm = cramped. That’s for another blog, even though I should’ve blogged about it already. Craigslist personals are awesome to creep.
NEW CAR! Except not really. I might buy this instead. It’s over 2x cheaper and left-hand drive.. not a double whammy like RHD + standard at once. Buying a standard seems interesting.
Do Want

Today: Richmond Centre at 10:00, leave at 10:40 for Boundary Bay, Langley, and Abbottsford airports. Did you know that Langley’s airport doesn’t actually have a terminal?
Four hours in traffic.. awesome time. Then we went to Sui Sha Ya for lunch-dinnerish.. I had only eaten some toast for breakfast and no lunch. We didn’t have as much as we would normally with Tyler’s sushi group. Only one order sheet, then one for some dessert. Some stuff stuff never came, but nobody really cared. Some reviews online said the owner hawks you for tips if you give under 15%, but they seemed nice there. Didn’t really talk much, meh.
HWY 99 is not fun at 4:00. This is why I like busing to school, no traffic.
I might buy a car. I kindof want to, but I A) Have no steady income, although I’ll be getting some inheritance from grandparents soon B) Don’t want to pay ICBC shit for anything. They’re a monopoly and they don’t deserve my money C) Don’t really drive very far.. although it would be nice to drive places like Tsawwassen without worrying about bus schedules. I could probably afford the car, but do I really need it?
I kindof want something like this:

Honestly, it might look a bit dumb, but it’s small. And kindof lulzy
Finding one in Canada might be hard, even though I see them around the odd time. Plus it’s a manual transmission.. means I’ll need to take some driving lessons from Jens. A few on Craigslist go for around $5800ish. Is a truck worth that much or should I buy a random POS one for a few hundred and save the rest for insurance/gas?
Meh
EDIT: THIS
Same-sex marriage debate
by Scott on Nov.06, 2009, under Uncategorized
I found this on another blog yesterday and it made me laugh.. people have such stupid arguments. Click for the full picture
I think I laughed the hardest at “Heterosexual marriage is sacred -> Britney Spears”
School today was meh. We finished just after noon, and I stayed for about two hours writing a report that was due at 1600 that I hadn’t started yet. (Haha 24 hour time) Airport Certification and Financing. Exciting stuff.
It would be nice if my mom stopped waking me up when I’m sleeping. I really don’t care that dinner is ready. I only had lunch an hour ago, and I ended up not eating half my dinner anyway. I don’t remember half of Phoenix’s album playing, so I must’ve been asleep at one point. When I woke up it was already onto Pink. At least I know that 1901 puts me to sleep now.
Blogs are stupid
by Scott on Nov.05, 2009, under Uncategorized
Dear Tyler: make the index link to my other blog
Apparently I’m supposed to blog more about BCIT. Bleh. What do you want me to say?
Our networking event failed. About 50 BCIT people (staff + students) came, and 3 industry people.
We invited 400.
Yeah. Big success. Now I have to write a 2-3 page report describing my experiences and key learnings. These key learnings are starting to annoy me. Most classes in AIRC 1001 we’ll spend 15mins at the beginning having everyone stand up and talk for a minute about what they learned the class prior. It feels like high school, but not really. We didn’t do this in highschool. Elementary maybe? It’s nice getting other peoples’ opinions, but spending time on it every class with her? Mind you, we often only stay until 3 or earlier so it’s not like we don’t have the time for it.
Today at lunch me and 3 other kids went to Aviation World and looked around. I want to go back again this weekend and actually buy something.. lots of interesting books there.
Paper due tomorrow.
Paper due Monday. Two exams monday. Oral exam sometime next week.
Paper due next Friday.
Two papers due the following Monday.
Woo, we’re finally getting work. I got 74/80 on that big 13 page report on the academic suitability of internet resources. Awesome.
